Cambridge, ON – When the new Windsor, Ontario VIA Rail train station opens for business in 2012, more than 1,000 passengers who pass through the station each day will benefit from the heating and cooling properties of geothermal technology.

GeoSmart Drilling has been working diligently to complete geothermal drilling for the new $6.3 million energy-efficient station. The installation includes 30 vertical drill holes housing 1,800 feet of 1 ¼” PE100 pipe and 2,500 feet of 2” PE100 pipe connected to the station’s geothermal systems. Each hole is about 300’ deep.

The Windsor VIA Rail train station is served by eight VIA rail trains daily, originating in Toronto.
