Making an investment in a geothermal and/or solar energy system for your home or business has never been easier thanks to a growing number of loan, rebate and feed-in tariff programs.
The following is a list of federal and provincial programs that further reinforce the national and international movement towards adopting more efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective energy alternatives for heating and cooling your home or business.
Ontario
microFIT Program (Feed-in Tariff)
Launched in September 2009, Ontario’s microFIT Program is North America’s first comprehensive feed-in tariff program for renewable energy. Ontario is Canada’s leader in solar photovoltaic capacity and among the top 10 solar jurisdictions in Canada and the United States.
Homeowners and businesses are encouraged to generate renewable energy with projects of 10 kilowatts (kW) or less. The feed-in tariff for solar energy projects is 80.2 cents/kWh. Those who qualify are paid a fixed price for all the electricity they generate over a period of at least 20 years.
microFIT is an ongoing program with applications being accepted on a continual basis.
